The dirt is on the track, the grandstands are ready and the lights have been put up, all that's required are the riders and the inaugural Mudgee and Districts Motorcycle Club day-night Stadium X will begin. Close to 200 riders, from juniors to seniors, will compete at MDMC's AREC track tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon and night. It is the first time a Motocross day-night event will be held in the Central West. The motocross club have been preparing for the day-night Stadium X since the beginning of the year and MDMC president Jef Dray says everything is ready.

The wildest rider in the history of motocross, Danny "Magoo" Chandler, made a surprise visit to Carthage for a 10-day visit with Barry Hill of the Skunk Factory Motocross Training Center, located in Topeka, Kan. The talented but erratic Chandler just returned from Italy where he attended the Motocross of Nations (Olympics of world Motocross) as a special guest. It's an event Magoo himself had participated in and won for the United States. In fact, he won every race.

The G.O.A.T. of motocross has something new to chew on: a racing career on four wheels. Ricky Carmichael , a 15-time American Motorcyclist Association champion, has raced part-time on the NASCAR truck series this season. But as of 2010, it will be his full-time job.

It follows the series' three American riders and their main competitors, as they compete in the world's top motorcycle racing series for 13-17 year olds, at speeds topping 140 mph.

One the latest contestants to sit in the hot seat of Who Wants to be a Millionaire is Tampa Bay's own Kim Burress, a support analyst from Dover wasn't really a game show fan, but she took a shot and auditioned. "There was a lawyer in front of me and two doctors on the side and they didn't pass the test," said Kim Burress. She made the final cut and made it past the first round. "

Michael Schumacher has stepped down from his advisory role for the Ferrari F1 team, fuelling rumours he is set to launch a dramatic return to the sport. Motorsport insiders are already linking the retired F1 star with the new Mercedes GP team that will compete from 2010. Mercedes GP boss Norbert Haug has refused to confirm or deny whether Schumacher will drive alongside confirmed Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg next season.

A TEENAGE gymnast from a sporty family is hoping to be picked for the Commonwealth games next year. Charlotte McKenna has just returned from a north European championship where she won two bronze medals for her footwork on the bars and beam. The 15 year old, who attends Hedingham School, is no stranger to competition, as every other member of her family competes at a high level in their own sport.
